I bought a cross stitch kit in America in 2018. It’s based on a traditional carpet design. When I started it I thought it looked a bit Christmassy and decided to turn it into a Christmas place mat. I has red fabric in my stash and found exactly the right grey fabric on sale in Country Threads in Bath last week. I really like the effect of merging the embroidered piece with patchwork.
